New professors: Dr. David Thornton and Domenico Catalano
We are pleased to announce that we have signed two new professors. Dr. David Thornton (euphonium) and Domenico Catalano (trombone).
Dr. David Thornton is Senior Tutor for Brass Band Studies at the RNCM and also teaches euphonium and chamber music at Chetham’s School of Music.
Domenico Catalano teaches trombone master classes in crossover, orchestral playing, and chamber music both nationally and internationally. He is bass trombonist at the Basel Symphony Orchestra.
New Band in Town
Benny Brown Brass, a new seven-piece formation formed by the top-class musicians Benny Brown, Florian Menzel and Hauke Rüter (trumpets), Felix Fromm (trombone), Tobias Reifer (euphonium), Andreas Martin Hofmeir (tuba) and Wolfi Rainer (drums).
For the first time for Brass Week Samedan this international top line-up comes together and presents their new program with exclusively own arrangements and compositions: Fizzy big band sounds mix with samba, pop and a touch of classical music.
The musicians’ joy of playing is immediately infectious. Look forward to a varied evening full of beautiful music that swings, grooves and touches.
